Indeed, automatic updates are not possible on test domains. But you can download a release and install it manually: https://www.wpsolr.com/forums/forum/licenses-and-billing/wpsolr-releases/

I have a license for www, and a test subdomain that we use for development. In that test site, in the WPSolr settings there is a note that “This is a test environment only.” However, looking at the plugins list, updates are not available. I see this message:
There is a new version of WPSOLR PRO available. View version 22.0 details. Automatic update is unavailable for this plugin. License xxxxxxxxxxxxxx is not activated for site https://test.xxxxx.com/wp-admin/. To receive automatic updates license activation is required. Please register or buy extensions to activate your WPSOLR PRO.
What do I need to do to permit updates on test?
