I am using the Yith brands plugin which comes with a widget that allows for displaying the links to brand pages. The feature that I am using that is conflicting with WPsolr is the “category sensitive” option which basically looks for whatever category you are on and displays brand links from only that category. On category pages, it works when I disable WPsolr. When I enable WPSolr it works only on product pages. On Category pages, it just shows the whole list of brands indicating that it can’t determine what the category is.

This definitely sounds like something that would need to be dealt with on the Yith side. I’m just looking for any specific reason why so we can adjust the widget code accordingly.
