Cross-language search capabilities in PDFs?

We have a site that has several PDFs in our index. Some of these PDFs are written in Serbian Cyrillic text. Is it possible to configure WPSOLR to return search results for a term written in English (ex. mihailovic) when in the PDF it is written in Cyrillic (ex. михаиловиц)? Currently, searching for mihailovic in English will only return English results that match the query. We are wondering if we can make the Serbian results for this search to appear in the search results as well.
Is this something we can configure within WPSOLR (perhaps with an add-on or extension)? Or will this require custom work?
