Cross-domain search?

    Hi,

It is a functionality question. We are setting up a site with a main domain name and two subdomain names.

I was wondering if we set up 3 indexes whether the searches can co-mingle so the results appear from all 3 sites?

    Hi,

    Yes, WPSOLR supports cross-domain search:

How to consolidate the search from several domains ?

You will need to buy 3 seats on your license though.

That is not a problem with the licensing cost. I bought one to start so we can learn the system and how best to configure it. I assume we can use WordPress MU (multisite), is that correct?

    Correct, MU is compatible.

Thanks. Last question for now. If my server doesn’t have SSH access I assume I can use the wpsolr.com service to host the search indexes? Is that correct?

We do not host the Solr/Elasticsearch indexes. We only build the plugin.

We recommend to install Solr/Elasticsearch locally (it’s faster and cheaper). It can be installed on a small VPS for instance.

Else you can use a hosting company. Here are the hosting services we have tested: hosting
