4 sites with a cross-domain site-wide search

    I will have 4 WordPress sites. One is on the main domain, and 3 on sub-domains.

    I need a unified search for all sites.

    Is this possible, how much does it cost and is it easy to install?

    You will need one license for each site. And one Solr or Elasticsearch server, to create your index.

    Solr and Elasticsearch are free to install locally. It will also be very fast.

    Do the indexes update automatically as the sites grow, or is that a manual process?

    Everything is automatic.

    New/updated data is indexed in real-time.
