pgilpatParticipant4 years, 11 months ago in reply to: Exact matches vs any word matches #28151We have updated the configuration in Schema.XML and added hook that used to update the Solr query in ajax_solr_services.
Because of changes we added, the any words match are working fine and for exact match returns the empty content, only returns results for some words.
Note : only some words are working fine for exact match (Not at all).If we comment the query_exact in the added hook means the results return from exact match and any words match are same.
Here is some example words which returns results as expected for exact match :
god, love, man, soul, mind, mortal – working fine for exact match.
https://tbwp.hostworks.com/search-wpsolr/?wpsolr_sort=sort_by_menu_order_as…Not working examples for exact match:
Supreme, divine, quote, – Not working for exact match
https://tbwp.hostworks.com/search-wpsolr/?search=%22quote%22Need to check with wpsolr that why its not working for exact match.
Here below attached the added configuration in Schema and hooks.
pgilpatParticipant4 years, 11 months ago in reply to: Exact matches vs any word matches #28148in the main theme directory? he tried in the child theme functions.php and it did not work.
pgilpatParticipant4 years, 11 months ago in reply to: Exact matches vs any word matches #28146We’ve updated the Solr schema.xml, added text_exact field and copyfield similar to text field type.
As wpsolr mentioned that need to update the Solr’s query based on url param before the query is sent to Solr.
I tried in enfold(truthbook-wp\wp-content\themes\enfold)
functions & functions-enfold.php its not working at all, Can you mention where we need to put these particular hooks?pgilpatParticipant4 years, 11 months ago in reply to: Exact matches vs any word matches #28125Greetings,
Sorry to push, but we are on deadline for going live on the 1st of November, do you have a response please?pgilpatParticipant4 years, 11 months ago in reply to: Exact matches vs any word matches #28115Here is the response from devs:
Yes, We re-indexed the data after removing the stem filter. And got only exact match for both ( exact or anywords ) options. As of now, Dev removed the filter & re-indexed the data on https://tbwp.hostworks.com/. You can see that..
• Exact match is working as expected.
• Anywords match is also working as the same way as exact match ( due to the removal of stem filter )How can we implement both exact match & anywords match with WPSolr? We need to know what are the options they provided & where they are available in wp-admin?
The possible solution could be a series of processes..
• Add 2 field types & 2 new text fields with those 2 field types
• Field type one should use stem filter ( for anywords match ) & another shouldn’t use it ( for exact match )
• Populate same data in those 2 fields
• WPSolr should have an option to select which field to be searched ( in the admin UI ), If search is about to anywords match or exact match. But adding this option is not so easy. So we need to ask help from WPSolr team.pgilpatParticipant4 years, 11 months ago in reply to: Exact matches vs any word matches #28057Thank you. We’ll try to implement.
pgilpatParticipant4 years, 12 months ago in reply to: Exact matches vs any word matches #28009Ok, but why are you returning results like loving when this is an exact match search?
pgilpatParticipant4 years, 12 months ago in reply to: Exact matches vs any word matches #28002Greetings. We applied your release and it is providing strange results:
Enter keyword: love
love search
It returns 827 results, but if you click on the first link for 0:1.17, you get many results including love, levels, sovereignty, etc.
page results
The developer adjusted the tolerance. on .02, it won’t find fuzzy words, but on .03, it finds fuzzy words in addition to un-related words like levels.
Thanks again.pgilpatParticipant5 years ago in reply to: Exact matches vs any word matches #27875Can you please update WPSolr to accept the double quotes? I’ve spoken with out developers and that will work, thank you! How soon can that be done? I’m sorry to push, but we are on a tight deadline.
pgilpatParticipant5 years ago in reply to: Exact matches vs any word matches #27873Thanks, I thought about that and appreciate the option. I’m not sure if my client will go for it. This search has been in existence for many years and I think they migrated from that approach to making exact match the default return because of having to “train” the user to add additional syntax. I’m meeting with a client representative in an hour in preparation for a direct meeting with the main client tomorrow. We are heading to a launch in mid-October.
Is there another option to make the exact match the default without adding syntax?
By the way, what time zone are you in? I appreciate the fast responses.pgilpatParticipant5 years ago in reply to: Exact matches vs any word matches #27871That would be great, thank you!
pgilpatParticipant5 years ago in reply to: Exact matches vs any word matches #27869What is the potential to add that feature? It is paramount to the success of our project. We have been converting our large site to WordPress from ColdFusion. The existing ColdFusion site, which also uses Solr reacts like this:
Use the text certitudes of religion
and see the difference between exact match and any words.
ExamplepgilpatParticipant5 years ago in reply to: Exact matches vs any word matches #27867Ok, I’ll give you an example:
search result snapshot
For example, in this example I searched for certitudes of religion
It returned three results. Only the first one (exact match) is relevant. the other two are irrelevant or a waste of time for the user to visit if they are only looking for that phrase.pgilpatParticipant5 years ago in reply to: Exact matches vs any word matches #27865I’m stunned. I can’t imagine that it is not capable. Why would you not have the ability to search in that manner? A user should be able to search and find what they are looking for without getting a bunch of irrelevant results.
